Let's see we've got generals and ambassadors who can't give us a straight answer on Iraq's outcome (aka no plan at all); an economic forecast of a recession, when we're already sitting in one, and we're in a state of denial; 850 planes grounded; and people protesting Tibet, and not one single leader listening. This sounds to me like the making of an international revolution.
I would like to first direct this rant at all those Senators at the hearing today, doling out all your political pleasantries, giving pats on the back to generals who can't even explain what their plan is in Iraq. Yes, of course, they are doing their patriotic duty, but come on, really, these guys are wasting lives, time, and money, and you allow these guys to dodge questions. Obama, you for one are a flake! You stand for "CHANGE", but you don't offer up really any controversial statements to these generals, and you continue to support their efforts, yet their efforts for solving this fiasco of a war have been transparent, and in all honesty a complete failure. I was beginning to lean towards you to give you my vote, but you have proven to me that you're just like all the same old good old boys up on Capitol Hill, you don't resemble change one bit!
If you read this blog often, you'll know my take on the recession. It's not a recession, it's a recession staring economic depression right in the face. How does this wonderfully witted country handle it?! We're poor people! So wake up already! We're poor because you agreed to a war, where 44 cents of your tax dollar goes to war funding. A war which is in the eyes of an investor, a horrible investment. If this war was a business (trying hard to hold back the sarcasm) venture, at this point in the game, what investment firm in their right mind would hand over there money? I think not. It's because for the past 8 years of this miserable administration, money has been poured into assets that aren't returning anything, absolutely nothing, but death, destruction, and empty promises of a "secure nation". Secure? What happens when the government needs to start cutting funds to public safety in America, because we're overspending on public safety in Iraq. Bring our money home! Look how much is spent on war right now!
To add to the fire of economic failure, the FAA is shutting down airline service en mass. Is this a first? All the money the government spends on a bureaucracy like the FAA, and they all of a sudden want to inspect planes? What have they been doing all along? My take on it: don't put the public in a panic due to a national security issue, instead ground hundreds of planes, dissuade the consumer, and that's a quick one-two punch to the economy. Nice work Uncle Sam!
And, finally, what the hell is going on with China. Yet another money hungry entity throwing its weight around. People are unhappy all over the world with that government, yet President Bush has taken a back seat on dealing with the issue of oppression, France assaults its citizens when they protest, and China doesn't recognize that what they're doing balances delicately on fascism. Yet, what the leaders of the international scene don't see that boycotting China's trade, would put us at a disadvantage slightly, but it would benefit us to do so, in that countries feeling economic crunch now, can fall back to their own resources, boosting their economies, and taking it all away from China, which is now an economic black hole.
Until next time, folks.
